New research from the Legal Services Board (LSB) has confirmed what many have long suspected: law firms offering fixed fees consistently deliver legal services at a lower cost than those working from estimates - especially in conveyancing, wills, and probate.
A survey of over 1,500 firms across England and Wales shows:
Fixed-fee conveyancing is up to £146 cheaper than estimated pricing.
Divorce cases cost on average £386 less under a fixed-price model.
Transparency, predictability, and remote services are becoming the norm.
The shift to fixed pricing models not only enhances client trust and budgeting, but also reflects broader trends in digital service delivery and access to justice.
This is a clear signal to the legal sector: transparent, fixed-fee models are not just fairer - they are also more efficient.
